SimplEye – Logo Design
This one was a real challenge but we are extremely happy with how it turned out. The reason I say challenge is, the logo for a cycling app could be derived from a cycle, the logo for a photography app could be derived from the form of a camera, but in my opinion the logo for an accessibility app for the visually impaired shouldn’t really be derived from an eye. It is the one thing that they have trouble with every single day, so no matter how pretty the logo is, it still reminds them of their problems.
We then tried some options with braille but those had their own set of issues that I won’t get into now. So ultimately, we decided to just use the letters S & E from SimplEye, to create a beautiful form that has depth while still remaining purely 2d, staying true to the current trend of flat UI. This is in essence an optical illusion, where the negative space actually creates the sense of 3 dimensionality. Finally, the bold, high contrast, palette is very apt and also helps the branding stand out in a crowd.
Our client Kriyate, has done an incredible job with this SimplEye app and it is for a great cause, so please visit their website, try the app and also share it and spread the word.
